I recently had the opportunity to watch newcomer Elle Varner perform live at the 2011 Black Girls Rock Awards in Brooklyn and was blown away by her performance. Despite a minor mishap on stage (she stumbled while dancing in the shoes she sings about) her vocal ability and overall presence was admirable.
