Night at the Parlour!

This June 2010, Parlour celebrated its first year. In celebration of their one-year anniversary, on June 16, 2010, the contempo-chic space invited guests to check out a live photo installation titled, “The Sound Of My Hair” by Parlour’s stylists and shot by photographer, Joe Fuda.

Guests enjoyed the on-site photo booth along with local celebs such as
Degrassi’s, Cory Lee, MuchMusic VJ Jesse Giddings, and The Artists Life band member Ian Blackwood.
Parlour also launched “Bring Us-A-Nylon & We’ll-Fill-it-with-Hair”, a
nylon/hair-fundraiser for Matter of Trust, a non-profit organization that produces hair mats and booms to help save animals affected by oil spills. The hair mats soak up a quart of oil and can reused up to 100 times. Booms are made of old nylon pantyhose filled with hair and absorb oil that flows around it. Hair attracts oil and repels water which is the perfect natural solution to solving these disasters. Last year, over 2,600 oil spills occurred around the world. With the current effects of the massive oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico, resources to deal with the spill are urgently needed. Clients of the salon can experience their own sense of humanitarianism by bringing old nylons and donating their hair cuttings.
Parlour has styled a remarkable roster of celebrity clientele including American Idol’s Adam Lambert, STEREOS, Keisha Chante, Hello Operator, Project Runway’s Evan Biddell, and Alexis On Fire.

Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!
